Course Description

Who is it for? The national minimum standards for care require that managers in care homes will need to have a qualification relevant to the care provided and a qualification in the management of services at NVQ Level 4. The award is not a care qualification, although it does have some units taken from Care NVQ at Level 4, enabling people who need to achieve both a care and management qualification to reduce the assessment burden. This qualification focuses on the task of managing a care service and is the correct choice for managers of care homes. This includes services for older people, people with learning disabilities and people with mental health problems. Course Content Candidates must complete 8 units, 4 mandatory and 4 optional units. Core Units Unit A1 Manage and Develop yourself and your workforce within care services Unit B1 Lead and manage provision of care sevices that respects, protects and promotes the rights and responsibilities of people Unit C1 Develop and maintain systems, procedures and practice of care services to manage risks and comply with health and safety requirements Unit E1 Lead and Manage effective communication that promotes positive outcomes for people within care services. Course delivery and assessment Learners work with an assessor and individually, completing activities and assessments for each unit. Your assessor will also observe you carrying out practical tasks during your normal working hours in order that you can meet the requirements of each unit. Progression opportunities Upon completion of the Leadership and Management for Care Services Award (Adults & Children and Young Peoeple) Level 4, learners can progress to higher education programmes.
