Awarding Body OCR Course Content The course aims to provide training in a range of further and higher level administration and business studies qualifications which meet the needs of employers in both the public and private sectors. It is practically based and contains components which develop existing skills and encourages students to improve their qualifications whilst expanding their knowledge and expertise. Course Features This course is also delivered at Graig campus Provides opportunities for students to develop a range of higher skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for working in an administrative and business environment Nationally recognised qualifications which provide a progression route to employment or higher level qualification The option of being taught and assessed through the medium of Welsh is available Delivered by a highly experienced course team Attendance may be negotiated to suit those with family or work commitments Flexible course tailored to meet individual needs Career Prospects and Progression Former students have gained employment as general and specialist administrators and personal assistants. They have found employment in banks, the media, legal practices, accountancy firms, health and local authority and many other private and public organisations. Modules A choice of modules from the following: EDI Certificate in Administration Level 2 or 3 Word Processing/Prosesu Geiriau Intermediate Audio Transcription / Clywgopio Mailmerge Document Presentation Medical Word Processing and Medical Audio Transcription Legal Word Processing including legal audio trancription Text Processing Business Presentation using PowerPoint Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Foundation or Intermediate Level AMSPAR Medical Terminology Certificate Level 2 AMSPAR Intermediate Diploma in Medical Reception AMSPAR Advanced Diploma for Medical Secretaries NVQ Business and Administration Level 2 and 3 Teeline shorthand New CLAIT or ECDL Method of Assessment Students will be assessed via external examinations, assignments and/or a portfolio of work depending on the modules they have chosen to study. Course Length One year Time of Delivery Daytime Campus Pibwrlwyd Campus Bilingual Provision The majority of this course can be studied bilingually Entry Requirements Relevant experience and/or basic qualifications in the appropriate skills are necessary. The course is aimed at students progressing from a range of full and part-time administration and business studies courses who wish to attain higher level qualifications.
