Course DescriptionThis qualification is offered on behalf of the Department for Transport. You will find it suitable if you wish to enter the profession of Road Haulage Transport Management or demonstrate your professional competence to meet the Operator Licensing requirements. The qualification includes a range of subjects related to the business of Road Haulage Transport Management. The areas specified in EU Directive 98/76/EC are assessed.Who Should AttendIf you operate goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes gvw you will require an Operator?s Licence. To obtain a standard licence you must hold the relevant Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage (CPC) qualification. A Standard Operator?s Licence is required for hire and reward operations and a Restricted Operator?s Licence for own account.Course ContentMultiple Choice (R1)The multiple choice assessment will be available as a quarterly, paper-based test from March 2012. The test format will be a two hour multiple choice question paperCase Study (R2)The new case study assessment will no longer be preceded by a pre-release scenario. Instead, a shorter, more relevant scenario will be issued with the papers at the start of the two hour assessment. This shorter case study will contain no distractions and will only contain information which will enable the candidate to demonstrate application of the knowledge they have acquired.OCR the awarding body have released material that may assist understanding of the process, there is a draft syllabus and example assessment material on their website, the links are as follows;International CPC overviewKey documents and example Assessment materialsAssessment & AwardThere will be two tests at the end of the course. One will be multi-choice, followed by a 2 hour open book case study scenario based questions.DurationThe course will run for a total of ten days. The first seven will be detailed tuition of the syllabus, followed by two days of revision and finally the last day will be the tests.
