Intermediate Certificate in Engineering and Technology - Electrical/Electronic Pathway Two Academic Year 2008/09 Programme Code: TE2VE Awarding Body: EAL Related Programme Areas: Engineering ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC Technology Who is the programme for? The certificate is designed for anyone who is thinking about a career in engineering and wish to become an electrical/electronic engineer, or for people who are currently working within the industry and wish to develop and learn new skills. What will I study? To achieve the certificate candidates are required to complete the following 3 mandatory units: * Engineering Environmental Awareness * Engineering Techniques * Engineering Principles and 3 optional units from a choice of 4: * Electrical and Electronic Principles * Testing Methods * Systems and Devices * PC Maintenance Entry to the Programme? How is it assessed? The programme is assessed through a combination of assignments and externally set examinations. Future prospects? The programme is designed to ensure successful candidates are equipped with the theoretical knowledge as well as the practical skills in engineering to prepare them for employment and enable candidates to progress onto the Advanced Technical Certificate. When will the programme start? September 2008. How long will it take? Typically one year part time day release. What about the Money? Please note that fee remission applies to anyone on a means tested benefit, job seekers allowance, a programme designated as Skills for Life (SfL) or where someone is studying their first full Level 2 or first full Level 3 (aged 19 25). If you are under 19 on the 31 August 2007 you would not normally pay tuition or registration fees. If a programme is Full Cost then no fee remission is applicable. How do I apply? Contact Student Services to arrange an interview with a member of the programme team or complete an application form and return it to Student Services, you will then be asked to attend College for an interview.
