HNC Social Care This course is available to study in Elgin You can study this course Full Time | Day Release Aims of the Course ? To provide an integrated course of practice and theory to equip candidates to work effectively in a range of Social Care settings. ? To provide the underpinning knowledge, values and skills relevant to Social Care. Course Contents Units include: ? Social Care Theory for Practice ? Social Policy ? Psychology ? Sociology ? Protection of Individuals from Possible Harm and Abuse ? Graded Unit plus SVQ Units (Level 3) in ? Effective Communication ? Health and Safety ? Reflect on and Develop your Practice plus a range of optional units Duration of the Course Full time - 1 year (including placement in Social Care setting). Work-based students may complete this course on a part time day release basis over1 academic year. Individual units may be used for top-up training. If students have access to work-based assessment for SVQ Level III, they may choose a day release option. Progression ? Students who successfully complete the course are considered to be academically acceptable for entry to the BA (Hons) in Applied Social Studies with the Diploma in Social Work at The Robert Gordon University. It should be noted that the HNC will provide relevant preparation but will not guarantee entry to degree programmes. ? Employment within a range of Social Care settings. UCAS Information Course Code - 045L Short form of Course Title - HNCSC Entry Requirements Applicants must demonstrate that they have the potential to meet the academic demands of this course. College general entry requirements for advanced course sapply, with experience in social care or similar work, either in a voluntary capacity or as an informal carer. Alternatively, candidates may have achieved sufficient competence in a level of caring skills as exemplified by SVQs in Care at Level 3 or Access to Care. Applicants who do not meet these entry requirements and who are aged over 21 are nevertheless encouraged to apply and will be expected to demonstrate that they have the potential to meet the academic demands of this course before being accepted. Please note that students on this course are required to complete a Disclosure Scotland enhanced check.
