Taken on a day release basis (currently Friday 09.00 - 4.30) this part-time course is suitable for those wanting to develop their chemistry knowledge to Higher level. Suitable entry qualifications include A-Level or AS-Level Chemistry, AVCE Science, National Diploma in Science or National Award in Science (with relevant industrial experience). The course has a strong practical element and is assessed by assignment work alone. There are ten units of study which include the core areas of organic, inorganic and physical chemistry as well as the specialist units of both environmental and industrial chemistry. This selection reflects the strong industrial background of the lecturing staff involved. The research project, taken at the end of year 1, usually involves an area of interest to industrial sponsors.
