Course Description

Higher National Certificate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering In Partnership with University of Greenwich This qualification is for you if you are employed in a relevant engineering industry and wish to develop your skills and knowledge in the subject. It will give you a broad understanding of the sector and the key principles and techniques necessary in employment. Content: Includes: C A D Mathematics Product Design Applications Work-based Learning Project Electrical and Electronic Principles Business Management Applications Duration: You will take 10 modules over two years, part time one day a week Entry Requirements: You must have 5 GCSE passes, including English Language or Use of English and at least one of the following: 1 x GCE A level OR 2 x AS Levels to at least grade B, including any of Mathematics, Physics, IT, or Design Technology (at least one of the A or AS levels should be Maths or Physics); OR BTEC National Diploma; OR Advanced GNVQ/AVCE; OR Access course with at least grade C; OR equivalent qualification Mature applicants are encouraged to return to study to gain or enhance their qualifications. Applicants are interviewed. Assessment: Includes projects, reports, essays, presentations, practical work and examinations. Progression: You will be equipped for a range of careers as a technician engineer in areas such as computer systems development, industrial electronics, communications engineering and electronic design and development. Alternatively you may wish to progress to the Foundation Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Canterbury College by taking further modules, as appropriate. Additional information: There will be the opportunity for group trips to relevant engineering companies in the local region. There is likely to be an additional cost to students for these trips.
