Course Description

Programme Outline The programme consists of workshops, open learning, and written work for healthcare managers. Over one year, each delegate must attend ten one-day workshops . These are supplemented by 5 self-study workbooks which allow for creative, independent and flexible learning, combining management theory with exercises. Delegates will have a programme adviser available to them throughout for advice, feedback and guidance. All workshops will take place on a Wednesday. Apart from an introductory afternoon, each workshop will run between 9.30am and 4.30pm and will focus on a particular topic as follows: Induction To familiarise delegates and their mentors with the programme Day 1 23 September Developing Yourself and Others Day 2 21 October Solving Problems and Making Decisions Day 3 11 November Understanding the Communication Process Day 4 09 December Building the Team 09 December Solving Problems and Making Decisions Work-based Assignment due Day 5 20 January Recruiting, Selecting and Inducting New Staff Day 6 10 February Managing PerformanceManaging Health & Safety at Work Day 7 24 March Working with Costs and Budgets Day 8 21 April Understanding & Planning Change Day 9 12 May Leadership Day 10 09 June Achieving Objectives through Time Management 30 July Change Management Report due Programme Requirements 10? classroom workshops (a mentor from the practice should attend the initial induction afternoon with delegates) 5 self-study workbooks (each requiring around 4 to 5 hours of your own time) 7 mini assessments (on selected modules - assessments may be reports, reflective reviews or presentations etc) A Work-based Assignment (1000-2000 words) A Change Management Report (2000-3000 words) Self Study Workbooks The programme will be underpinned by 5 Super Series Workbooks as follows: Workbook 1: Solving Problems and making decisions Workbook 2: Understanding change in the workplace Workbook 3: Planning change in the workplace Workbook 4: Recruiting, Selecting and Inducting New Staff Workbook 5: Managing health & safety at work Venue: Glasgow office or any other venue with a combination of modules or topics by arrangement.
