Health and Social Care BTEC First Certificate Introduction The BTEC First Diploma is a practical and work-related course. During the course you will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on real life situations, activities and demands to help gain a clear understanding of the related areasissues. The course will be based on three days within the college and an optional placement one day a week. There will also be an opportunity to improve your Literacy, Numeracy and Information Communication Technology skills. Course Content Subjects to study Core units Communication and Individual Rights within the Health and Social Care Sector Individual Needs within the Health and Social Care Sector Specialist units Human Lifespan Development Creative and Therapeutic Activities in Health and Social Care Health and Social Care Services The Impact of Diet on Health Entry Requirements You will normally need to have at least ONE of the following A BTEC Foundation Certificate in a related subject A good standard of Literacy and Numeracy Entry level 23 or Level 12 One or more GCSE grades D -G or above Related work experience Other level 1 or 2 qualifications Duration For the First Diploma, you will study for 360 hours. The BTEC First Diploma is a one year course Assessment Each unit will be individually assessed through assignment work and graded to a pass, merit or distinction. The overall course is graded at a pass, merit or distinction. Progression If you plan on working straight after the course you could worktrain within- Registered Care Homes Hospitals Primary Care Trusts Nursing Homes Health Centres If you wish to train further the course can also help you to move onto - BTEC National Diploma or Certificate in Care BTEC National Diploma or Certificate in Health Studies Fees Fees will be discussed at interview or through student servicesreception
