Hairdressing (Thursday Day) - City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 Summary You will be working in a realistic environment treating clients to a commercial standard. The methods of study are open learning packages and practical salon workshops. About the Course G1: Provides you with further understanding of your responsibilities concerning health, safety and security in the salon. G4: You will be trained to take charge of the reception area of the Salon overseeing the greeting of clients, dealing with client queries and ensuring stylists are aware of client arrival. G5: Give clients a positive impression of yourself and your organisation. G7: You will learn to build a rapport with clients and to advise on the correct choice of style, colour, perm or treatment. H6: Learning the skills of basic cutting to create a variety of styles and fashion cuts. H9: You will be able to select appropriate shampoos and conditioners to match the clients hair type or treatment being carried out. H10: You will learn styling skills to meet the clients needs, these skills will involve the use of hairdryers, tongs and rollers. Unit H12: Learn the art of perming using basic techniques to produce a variety of curl types and further extend neutralising skills to ensure the best results in perms. Unit H13: Learn to bring about changes in hair colour using a variety of basic techniques incorporating products such as mousses, creams and gels. You will have the opportunity to participate in the College's competition, Festival of Colour. Course Aims To develop the practical skills and levels of understanding expected of a hairdresser. To meet current standards in a working environment and to develop awareness of teamwork. What are the entry requirements? How is the course assessed? Practical - observed performing skills. Written - by set assignment, tasks and client studies. Oral - questioned verbally. Externally set exams. Are there any resources to obtain? You will need to purchase a tunic which should be worn with black trousers or skirt, and flat, low-heeled fully enclosed shoes. Students may also have to purchase a Hairdressing Kit to use on the course. Fees A Fee: ?690.00, B Fee: ? 690.00, C Fee: ?10.00 Are there any other costs? See materials required - order forms for uniform and kit are available through college if required. If it is necessary to resit the examination the fee is ?20.60. What facilities can be used on this course? You will be provided with specialist facilities with up-to-date equipment taught by commercially experienced staff in a purpose built salon. A 2 week period of work experience will be arranged for you. What next? Employment in a salon and further progression to a Level 3 Hairdressing or a Level 2 in Barbering Skills.
