Course Description

The Global Leadership workshops are designed with one key question in mind: What skills and attributes do young people need in the 21st century in order to be successful? The programme includes work on key technical and academic skills such as writing, presenting and project managing, and discussion and debate, as well as essential ?soft? skills such as how to interview and how to manage others. Throughout, students will be gain invaluable experience working in a team with others from a variety of different countries and cultures.A core component of the Global Leadership programme is the community outreach module, using the teamwork and leadership skills they have developed to work on a project in conjunction with a UK charity.The classes and workshops are complemented by excursions to important sites of leadership in the UK, which may include Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, and the Churchill War Rooms.The skills and experiences gained on the course provide a huge advantage to young people growing up in an increasingly competitive world ? the course leaves students with both an enriched understanding of scientific principles, and a strong range of leadership qualities. Students are taught by a range of inspiring teachers from different fields, who share their own stories about how their skills and passion have brought them success, and pass on their skills and enthusiasm to a new generation of Global Leaders.We offer two streams to our Global Leaders Programme - Humanities and Sciences.The Humanities Global Leadership programme aims to provide students with both a firm grounding in key Humanities disciplines and an array of leadership skills necessary for University study and beyond. A variety of teachers introduce students to the different ways in which various Humanities disciplines explore and investigate the human condition, whilst workshops build students? public speaking, debating and interview skills, as well as helping them to be better prepared for University application. In addition, there is a community outreach project, a variety of daily activities in Cambridge, and excursions to iconic UK locations closely related to the field of leadership.Course DetailsThe Humanities classes allow students to explore how academics and researchers from a range of different disciplines understand and study human beings, giving students the perfect interdisciplinary introduction to this fascinating field. Students will learn how disciplines such as History and the Social Sciences can complement and build on one another, illuminating different aspects of human individuals and societies.HUMANITIES GLOBAL LEADERSHIP PLUS AN ACADEMIC SUBJECT COURSEThe ?Humanities Global Leadership Programme? can be extended by signing up for one of our Three Week August Programmes, which incorporate the Global Leadership Programme in the first week, followed by two weeks studying one of our excellent intensive academic courses such as Psychology, English Literature and History. The Sciences Global Leadership course aims to provide students with both a firm grounding in key Sciences and an array of leadership skills necessary for University study and beyond.. A variety of teachers introduce students to the different questions and puzzled addressed by different scientific disciplines, whilst workshops build students? public speaking, debating and interview skills, as well as helping them to be better prepared for University application. In addition, there is a community outreach project, a variety of daily activities in Cambridge, and excursions to iconic UK locations closely related to the field of leadership.Course DetailsThe Sciences sessions allow students to explore how academics and researchers from a range of different disciplines understand and study the universe and everything in it ? from the philosophical questions of theoretical Physics to the experimental methods of Biochemists. Crafted to provide a greater understanding of the interconnections between different scientific disciplines, the sessions provide the perfect interdisciplinary introduction to University Science.SCIENCES GLOBAL LEADERSHIP PLUS AN ACADEMIC SUBJECT COURSEThe ?Sciences Global Leadership Programme? can be extended by signing up for one of our Three Week August Programmes, which incorporate the Sciences Global Leadership Programme in the first week, followed by two weeks studying one of our excellent intensive academic courses such as Biotechnology, Physics, or Chemistry & Medical Sciences.
