GCSE Mathematics GCSE Level 2 Programme Code: EG2QM Awarding Body: AQA Related Programme Areas: MATHS GCSE AQA Who is the programme for? GCSE Mathematics is a desirable qualification for almost everyone, and a must for many careers. The syllabus offered is broad and practical with much of the mathematics relating to everyday life. It can be studied at either Foundation or Higher Level, the latter providing students with a preparation ground for AS Level Mathematics. What will I study? GCSE Mathematics covers the following topics: - * Number and Algebra * Statistics and Probability * Shape, Space and Measure. All classes work to the AQA Modular Mathematics syllabus, which is designed for College students. In the first term of the programme, all students will be given the opportunity to achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Adult Numeracy (Higher Tier Students). Entry to the Programme? How is it assessed? The course is assessed as exams in 3 modules. Module 1 (statistics/probability) is assessed in March and carries a weighting of 18% towards the overall mark. Module 3 (number and algebra) 27% again assessed in March and finally module 5 (shape, space and measure) 55% of overall mark and assessed in May/June 2010. Future prospects? GCSE Mathematics opens doors. It is seen as a benchmark by employers and is an essential qualification for entry to many further forms of study. When will the programme start? The programme will start in September 2009 How long will it take? The programme will start in September, with exams in March and then May/June 2010. The course is taught for 3 hours per week, with the option of daytime or evening classes being available. What about the Money? How do I apply?
