GCE Health and Social Care Advanced Is this the right course for me? Yes if you wish to progress in Nursing, Midwifery, or to Key WorkerSupport Worker in a Social Care setting. What will I need to join the course? You will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C or above. A grade C in English Language is required or a Level 2 Key Skills Communication qualification. A BTEC 1st Diploma in Care or Health and Social Care at Merit level is also a progression route to the course. Students over 18 do not need to have any formal qualifications and at interview should show a commitment and capability to complete the course. What will I be doing? Over 2 years the following units will be covered: AS Units ? Unit 1 Human Growth and Development externally assessed ? Unit 2 Communication and Values internally assessed ? Unit 3 Positive Care Environments internally assessed ? Unit 4 Social Aspects and Lifestyle Choices externally assessed ? Unit 5 Activities for Health and Well being internally assessed ? Unit 6 Public Health internally assessed ? Unit 7 Meeting Individual Needs externally assessed ? Unit 8 Promoting Health and Well being internally assessed ? Unit 9 Investigating Disease internally assessed ? Unit 10 Using and Understanding Research internally assessed ? Unit 11 Social Issues and Welfare Needs internally assessed ? Unit 12 Understanding Human Behaviour externally assessed What will I achieve? A Double Award Advanced GCE and Key Skills Level 2 qualification or GCSE Maths, these will enable you to access a degree course at University if you wish. Key Skills During the course you will be given the opportunity to gain a Level 2 Key Skills qualification or GCSE Maths.
