Vehicle Body Repair (IMIAL) Diploma Level: Level 3 Full-time How long is the course/training? This is a one-year course. What will I be doing on the course/training? This is a progression only course, where you will have already achieved a level 2 Certificate in Vehicle Body Repair. The course develops your essential knowledge and practical skills from level 2 to the more complicated and technical aspects of body repair. The qualification involves both the theory and practical aspects of the removal and replacement of structural panels, repairs to structural panels and rectification of vehicle misalignment. You will further develop essential fabrication and welding skills, plus removal and refitting knowledge on more advanced systems in order to carry out these tasks. You need to have achieved a Level 2 Certificate in Vehicle Body Repair. What can I do after this course/training? You can go into the automotive industry or you will be able to progress to an apprenticeship programme. What key skills will I do? Coming soon... What residential/work experience is there? The course is structured to allow you to find a work experience opportunity alongside your college training. The diploma is made up of a number of units that cover specific topics. These topics are delivered by classroom lectures and practical sessions in the vehicle workshop. Each of the units contains a number of learning outcomes. In order to pass and achieve certification, students must achieve all of the unit's learning outcomes, by completing the underpinning knowledge assessment criteria. Assessment of each unit is made up of 3 components, IMI Practical Assessments, Centre Devised Assessment Methods and IMI External Testing. What facilities are there? A large modern fully equipped workshop A state of the art automotive diagnostic laboratory with test simulators and rigs A dedicated IT laboratory with internet access Four specific automotive training classrooms Meeting and function rooms Attached restaurant What will the course/training cost me? This further education course is free for all 16-18 year olds who are resident in the UK and the European Economic Area for the last 3 years.
