Sustainable Forest Management Construction and Forestry Description The BSc Sustainable Forest Management degree is an applied programme that aims to give candidates the skills and knowledge needed to be a competent forest or arboricultural manager, capable of providing professional advice to the land-based sector. Students will have a technical management qualification and experience in all aspects of sustainable management in relation to forestry or arboriculture. Students will have the opportunity to study one of two strands according to their particular interests and needs. These are: BSc Sustainable Forest Management (with Forest Conservation) Subjects may include: Timber Sales & Removals, Land Measurement, Conservation & Land Use, Forest Protection, Market Evaluation, Financial Control of Forest Enterprises, Woodland Ecology & Management, Environmental Change. BSc Sustainable Forest Management (with Arboriculture and Urban Forestry) Subjects may include: Horticultural Biology, Amenity Tree Management, Managing Sites for Nature Conservation, Planning for Urban Wildlife Promotion, Wood Technology for Amenity Trees, Planning in Arboricultural Management. The Scottish School of Forestry has a long standing reputation in the forestry industry for providing graduates of high calibre, capable of providing professional advice to the land-based sector. Qualification Bachelor of Science Progression Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters. Postgraduate studies at other institutions subject to articulation arrangements. You will be equipped with the skills to seek employment in the forest and arboriculture industry: in the local aut Start Date 01 September 2009 Attendance Full-Time Campus Scottish School of Forestry (Balloch) Location Inverness Entry Requirements Entry requirements (mature students): Year 1 candidates must have the Certificate in Forestry/Conservation Skills or a minimum of one year's pre-course experience in a woodland environment. Those who hold an HND in Forestry/HND Arboriculture & Urban Forestry or equivalent qualification may gain entry to the final year of the BSc. Mature applicants without formal entry qualifications are welcome to apply. Entry requirements (school leavers): Year 1, a minimum of 3 Highers at C or above plus appropriate Standard Grades.
