Course Description

Stonemasonry Diploma Level 3 1 Year Programme Introduction The Diploma Level 3 is for students intending to work towards an NVQ Level 3 but would prefer to start with a college based training programme or are unable to find a work placement, which is a mandatory requirement for an NVQ Level 3. This course is available to students who have completed the Diploma Level 2 in Stonemasonry and wish to gain employment in the Industry. The Diploma Level 3 is designed to prepare people for work in a particular construction occupation. It has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment. Diplomas consist of practical training with phase tests and job knowledge and an external multi-choice test. There is also a Health and Safety multi-choice computer test if not completed at Level 2. Entry Requirements What will I study? The Diploma Level 3 in Banker Stonemasonry is made up of the following units: Carry out safe working practices in Construction Information, quantities and communication with others Building methods and construction technology Produce complex templets and moulds produce complex setting out for templets and moulds Produce complex stonemasonry components Practical phase test Key Skills Key skills are the skills that are commonly needed for success in a range of activities in education and training, work and life in general. Application of Number Communication Information Technology How will I be assessed? There is continuous training assessment throughout the course. There is one practical test and one knowledge short answer test. Career Prospects On successful completion of the Diploma Level 3 you can progress on to: Employment in Industry, NVQ 3 with the relevant Work Placement, Fnd Degree in Applied Architectural Stonework and Conservation. Materials and Text Books The wearing of safety glasses and safety footwear is mandatory in the workshops. It will also be necessary for students to own some basic drawing equipment and tools. There is a charge of 50.00 for all students to cover the purchase of a Log Book and materials. Fees Under 19 as at 31st August - Free. Over 19 as at 31st August and enrolling on a full programme of study- 470 or 430 if paid in full at the time of enrolment. Fees for studying any individual subject as a day student available on request. If you are in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit, or you are an unwaged dependant thereof, the fee is reduced to 100. No further reduction is available on this reduced fee. All fees quoted are for British/ EEA Citizens with settled status who have been resident in an EEA country for the last 3 years or have exceptional circumstances or exceptional leave to remain.
