The Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care provides a lively, stimulating, employment-focused learning experience, which will not only satisfy the requirements of the most demanding employer, but also provide the stimulus for deeper understanding of the issues affecting health and social care professionals, institutions and, most importantly, service users in the twenty first century. We have a passion for quality care and we want you to have one too! Entry Requirements: What are we Looking for? All applicants will be considered individually. Age is not considered to be a significant determinant for selection on to the programme however you must be able to demonstrate appropriate work experience. Normally entrance would be based on the following criteria: Level three qualifications in a relevant field (typical profile would be 160 UCAS points). Level 3 vocational awards are also appropriate. Non-standard entrants are required to demonstrate the ability to benefit from and have prospect of successfully completing the programme. In this connection, they may be required to demonstrate basic competencies and skills via prior experiential learning andor such diagnostic assessment procedures as are deemed appropriate. Candidates are required to complete CRB Enhanced Disclosure, since they are regarded as potentially having unsupervised, substantial access to children, young people and vulnerable adults. The College has quality assurance policies which promote equal opportunities for all candidates It is important to note that this is a university level programme and, as such, involves the study and analysis of complex materials along with high level writing skills. Whilst candidates should not be deterred by the level of difficulty, all should be aware of the level of effort and commitment required. We have a strong reputation for supporting students to develop and maintain such skills, particularly in the case of specific learning needs. If you work in the health and social care sector and are qualified to at least level 3, this may be the ideal course for you. You may be looking to develop your career, possibly into management within the broader context of health and social care or simply have an active involvement in practical voluntary work. The list of those who would benefit from this course is long and varied, there is however, one common factor you must be totally committed to the provision of quality services to the most vulnerable people in our society. Assessment Methods: Assessment strategy will draw on a variety of activities including personal and professional portfolio, essays, reports, presentations andor case studies, research projects, online assessment, open book exams and peer review. A good proportion of the assignments will be work-based and may be assessed within the workplace, where appropriate. Progression: The Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care is a nationally recognised qualification in its own right.
