Course Description

Plumbing Technical Certificate C&G 6129 Level 2 1 Year Programme Introduction The Technical Certificate in Plumbing provides the specific underpinning knowledge and practical skills necessary for starting a career in Plumbing. It is designed for those who have completed PEO Plumbing Level 1. You will gain workshop experience and develop skills in domestic plumbing installations including: Basic Central Heating System Basic Lead Work Cutting and Threading Hot and Cold Water Supplies Pipe Bending Sanitary Ware Installation Soldering Students will also have the opportunity of making improvements in important key skills areas. Entry Requirements What will I study? The course covers the following: Customer Relations Installing Bathroom and Kitchen Plumbing Installing Heating Radiators Installing and testing pipe systems and components Maintaining pipe systems and components Working Safely Working with Others The theory sessions provide you with new technical concepts and safe working practices, with the practical sessions consolidating these practices with an opportunity for hands on experience. Key Skills: Application of Number Communication How will I be assessed? The course is structured and delivered by continuous assessment plus a theory multi-choice exam, which is assessed by City and Guilds. The course includes a number of practical and phase tests that must be successfully completed throughout the course. Career Prospects / Progression The course is designed to increase the chances of gaining employment as a trainee plumber and working in this important trade. All students will be encouraged to actively seek emplyment within the trade, which will enable them to progress onto the full NVQ. On successful completion of the this course you can progress onto: Technical Certificate Level 3 (Part-time Day Release) NVQ Level 2 (work experience is essential) NVQ Level 3 work experience is essential) Materials and Text Books You will be required to purchase safety boots and boilersuit for the course, together with text books (as instructed by the tutor). The wearing of safety boots/shoes and boilersuit is mandatory in the workshop. Fees Under 19 as at 31st August - Free Over 19 as at 31st August and enrolling on a full programme of study- 470 or 430 if paid in full at the time of enrolment. Fees for studying any individual subject as a day student available on request. If you are in receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit, or you are an unwaged dependant thereof, the fee is reduced to 100. No further reduction is available on this reduced fee. All fees quoted are for British/ EEA Citizens with settled status who have been resident in an EEA country for the last 3 years or have exceptional circumstances or exceptional leave to remain. If you are in any doubt as to your status please ask for advice on enrolment.
