Electric & magnetic fields 2. Capacitors & exponential decay 3. Medical imaging 4. Modelling the universe `Practical Skills in Physics` - this unit is teacher assessed and externally moderated by OCR. Candidates are assessed on one task from each of the following categories: qualitative, quantitative and evaluative tasks. Course Structure Your A2 Physics course is organised into units. A2 Unit G484: The Newtonian World A2 Unit G485: Fields, Particles & Frontiers of Physics A2 Unit G486: Practical Skills in Physics 2 How Will I Learn? Formal teaching. Classwork exercises. Laboratory investigations. Past Paper analysis. e-learning. Videos. Skills You Will Develop Analytical Mathematical Communication Conceptual Organisational Practical Benefits To appreciate the importance of physics as a human endeavour which interacts with social, philosophical, economic, industrial and environmental matters. Expect Also To Work independently. Use specialist equipment, e.g. a cathode ray oscilloscope. Interact with web-based learning. Use the Science workshop. How You Will Be Assessed Each unit is assessed via a written examination. Unit examinations are taken twice a year in January and May/June. The practical skills section will be assessed at appropriate point(s) during the academic year. You can resit some units to improve your grade. You can `cash in` your unit grades for A-level certification at the end of your course. Things You May Need Scientific calculator.
