NC EQUINE STUDIES - FULL TIME Who is this course aimed at? If you are interested in a career working with horses, then this course is an ideal starting place. Based in a working yard in Kirriemuir, you will gain the experience and skills you will need. The course covers the basics of horse handling, horse care and riding and you will get the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications from the Association of British Riding Schools as well as SQA credits. You will be able to take ABRS progressive tests in Stable Management and Equitation, Riding and Road Safety Test and ABRS Lungeing Certificate How and where will I study? The course is currently based in Kirriemuir with hands-on at Pathhead Equestrian Centre and sessions at the College Learning Centre at Fairlie House. You will be taught by qualified instructors, backed up by full access to College facilities What will I study on this course? Horse Handling, Stable Management, Horse Health, Nutrition, Saddlery and Field Management are some of the topics you will study. The course is based on practical work experience carrying out the daily routines with the confidence and competence required for employment in a yard. Job and progression routes? This course prepares you for work as a stable hand, yard assistant or groom in equestrian yards with references from both the College and Pathhead equestrian. Progression routes to higher level equine courses are also available at other institutions.
