Level 2 Diploma Painting and Decorating Attendance Full-time (up to 16 hours per week) Duration 1 Year Level This is a Level 2 course Times Starting 7 Sep 2009: Twelve Quays: Mon 09:00-17:00, Tue 09:00-16:50 Starting around 7 Sep 2010: Not yet timetabled It is planned to offer this course in the academic year 2010/11. Later courses may be charged at a different rate. Fees quoted are on an individual student basis only. Opportunities Entry Requirement Specific requirements - Completion of the Level 1 Diploma. Action planning - Students will work with their tutors to Action plan. Students are expected to know when they are ready to be assessed. Information Technology - It would be helpful if you have used a computer before starting the course but if you have not got these skills you will be given a chance to learn. Manual dexterity and physical stamina- The course requires physical fitness. You will need to lift and use tools and handle materials. Communication skills - An ability to communicate one to one e.g. with a tutor or customer and in a group as part of a discussion. Literacy - Reading: Much of the course material is presented in work books. Students need an ability to read and understand these books. Technical language will be taught on the course. Writing: Students will need to produce some written assignments. Due to the technical language and the use of course literature it is recommended that entrants should have a minimum of Level 1 for this course. Numeracy - Whilst high levels of numeracy are not required students will need to understand the four rules of number, metric measurements, volumn and superficial areas. It is recommended that entrants should have a minimum of Level 1 for this course. Before starting your course, you will take assessments in literacy and numeracy to make sure that you are working at the right level.
