Course Information Title: Learning for Living - Group A Level: Entry Category: Entry Level and Supported Learning Curriculum Area: Learning Difficulties and Disabilities Course Length 2 Years Level Pre-Entry Level Who is it for? This course has been designed to meet the needs of anyone who may be living, or who intends to live in sheltered accommodation. The course provides opportunities for you to work on personal, social, independent living and communication skills. What will I need? To study this course you should have an interest in becoming more independent and also you should like the idea of coming to College to meet new people and improve your confidence. What is covered? On the course, you will study: Healthy eating Keeping fit Being safe Looking after your clothes and personal hygiene Getting on with other people Finding out about your community Developing your hobbies and interests Developing self awareness and maturity Improving your communication, maths and IT skills Becoming independent is a main feature of this programme and the course will build on your existing skills to develop your confidence. How is the course assessed? The course has a variety of practical, written and portfolio assessments. What can this course be combined with? You can also work towards certificates in developing your listening, speaking, recognising words and writing skills through this course. What can this course lead to? You may be able to progress onto other entry level programmes at College, such as Learning for Living - Group 'b' or Learning for Work - Group 'A'. Are there any additional costs? There may be some costs for educational trips, community studies and cookery.
