Awarding Body EDEXCEL Course Content The skills and knowledge gained give students a broad understanding of Human Biology and its application to and impact on their lives. The AS Level consists of: - Molecules and Cells - Exchange, Transport and Reproduction in Humans - Energy and the Environment. This unit also consists of one practical investigation. The A2 Level consists of: - Respiration, Co-ordination, Micro Organisms and Biotechnology - Genetics, Human Evolution and Biodiversity - Synoptic examination and an Individual Study practical Course Features Develop essential knowledge and understanding of biological facts, concepts and principles. Recognise the value and responsible use of biology in society A suitable preparation for biological studies in Higher education Career Prospects and Progression A Levels provide an excellent basis for progression to Higher level qualifications such as degrees or Higher National Diplomas. Human Biology helps to develop the understanding and skills necessary to work in occupations including Healthcare, Food Science, Conservation, Environmental Health, Laboratory Work and Field Research. Modules Method of Assessment AS Level Three written tests 1 hour each and a practical assignment. A2 Level Three written tests 2 x 1hr 30min and 1 x 1hr 10min, and a practical assignment Course Length AS - 1 Year Full A Level - 2 Years Time of Delivery Daytime Campus Graig Campus Bilingual Provision This course can be studied in English only Entry Requirements Normally students 16 - 19 years of age will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C with a minimum of Grade C Biology or CC in Double Award Science higher tier.
