INTRO DIP HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE LEVEL 1 Code: 85971A COURSE DURATION: 35 Week(s) COURSE DATES: 07 September 2009 to 25 June 2010 MODE OF ATTENDANCE: FT This new BTEC Introductory Diploma is designed to encourage you to develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work, learning and to help you achieve your full potential. BTEC Introductory Certificates are intended as practical hands on programmes with each of taught in the context of real jobs and careers in a chosen vocational sector. This gives you the health & care sector to explore the opportunities offered, and to acquire appropriate vocational skills. Entry Requirements GCSEs grade profile of (E-G) or an Entry level qualification or equivalent, with an appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy. Students also need to attend an interview, have two references and obtain an up-to-date Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check Course Content The course is made up of 8 units. Starting Work in Health & Social Care Developing Skills in Health & Social Care Personal Effectiveness Looking after Children Working in Health & Social Care Images of People Financial Management Exploring Local Services Plus Additional qualifications such as Personal Safety awareness and First Aid As part of your course you will be required to study towards functional skills in Maths, English and IT at an appropriate level. Starting Work in Health & Social Care & Working in Health & Social Care are externally assessed in the form of a project. The other 6 units are internally assessed by assignment work. Method of study You will learn through a system of lectures, discussions, group work, assignments, individual support and practical work experience. Method of assessment The core and optional units are graded P (pass), M (merit) or D (distinction). Externally passed units are pass or fail. Progression routes BTEC First Diploma or NVQ CACHE Certificate in Childcare and Education Employment in a variety of Health and Social Care settings FEES AND FINANCIAL HELP: * ?510.00 * This fee is approximate and subject to change.
