Course Description

Hairdressing (Level 2 Intensive) Course content: It is a practical based course and learners will be assessed on their competency to perform salon services. The theoretical knowledge underpins the practical skills. Course modules: - Cut Hair using Basic Techniques - Style, Finish, Set and Dress Hair - Hair Colouring Techniques - Shampoo and Treat the Hair and Scalp - Promote Services and Products - Advice and Consult with Clients - Health and Safety - Salon Reception Duties. Special course features: This is a vocational qualification with a strong commercial basis. Teaching will take place in our state-of-the-art College and salons which reflect industry standards. Time commitment: This one year programme will require approximately 18 hours study per week within college including an evening and Saturday session. You will also be required to study independently both researching and completing assignment work. You are also required to carry out commercial work experience to support your learning. Assessment: You will carry out a range of practical assessments within a commercial working environment. You will also collate theoretical evidence in the form of assignments, projects and tests. Entry requirements: All applicants will attend a formal interview with a member of the teaching team. An initial skills assessment will take place to determine the appropriate course. A pre-requisite of previous hairdressing training and industry experience is compulsory. A high level of commitment to learning and aspirations to progress in the industry must be displayed. Additional information: Students will need to provide a comprehensive Hair Kit (a list of equipment will be provided). Students will need to purchase uniform and text books at a cost of approximately ?110. During the course there will be the opportunity to attend workshops and exhibitions at an approximate cost of ?100. Progression: All our programmes are designed to allow you to progress from your appropriate level direct progression from this programme would be Level 3 Hairdressing (part-time course). Careers: This vocational qualification is designed to equip you with the skills required within the workplace. Positions which would be open to you will include Stylist.
