Course Code: Starting: September 2010 for 2 years At: West Bridgford Centre, Greythorn Drive, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 7GA Course Information: The Foundation Diploma in Hair and Beauty Studies is designed for 14 19 year olds to give young people the skills they will need to progress onto the Higher Diploma, as well as provide transferable skills. The Diploma offers an innovative learning experience with a blend of academic and hands-on experience where they can put new skills into practice. The Diploma provides flexibility and has been designed with employers to ensure the skills learnt are relevant to the Hair and Beauty Industry. The Diploma will give learners an insight into work and help them to make decisions about their future pathway, whether they decide to stay in further or higher education, or move into employment the transferable skills learnt would keep all options open. Course Content: Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector Creating a Positive Impression within the Hair and Beauty Industry Introduction to Hair styling Introduction to Basic Skin Care Treatments Introduction to Basic Hand and Nail Care Services Personal Appearance, Style and Wellbeing within the Hair and Beauty Industry In addition the learner will complete Functional Skills Personal Learning and Thinking Skills A Project Work Experience Additional and specialist learning Careers within the Hair and Beauty Sector and Related Industries Progression: Apprenticeship or Employment with a Training Element. Progression onto Higher Diploma, Further Education, Apprenticeship or Employment with a training element. Additional Information: The Foundation Diploma on completion will provide the equivalent of five GCSEs at grades D-G. May incur costs for work package
