Course Code: Starting: September 2010 for 2 years At: West Bridgford Centre, Greythorn Drive, West Bridgford, Nottingham NG2 7GA Course Information: Whether you currently work in sport or wish to pursue a sport related qualification in higher education then this Foundation Degree will enable you to hone and develop the practical and academic skills you will require to be able to multi-task and be the capable 'all-rounder' that most organisations require from their employees. It might be that you wish to build on existing skills, as well as develop new ones. You might also want to have the satisfaction of having your skills and knowledge recognised in the form of a national higher education qualification. Course Content: This Foundation Degree programme is specifically designed to prepare graduating learners for the realities of working within a sport coaching, sport development or administrative environment. Our Foundation Degree offers modules in the following: Introduction to Sport Coaching Introduction to Exercise Physiology Introduction to Sport Pschology The Social Context of Sport Coaching Performance Analysis (Performance Pathway) Community Sport Development (Development Pathway) Advanced Coaching & Communication Skill Learning in Sport Professional Development & Work-based Project. Progression: All successful completers would be given the opportunity to progress to the second year of the Sport Coaching BSc Degree at Nottingham Trent University. A Gateway Module has been specially develped to support the transition from the Foundation Degree to Batchelor of Arts Degree programme. Entry Requirements Applicants must be 18 years of age or above, have obtained 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics or equivalent, plus have successfully completed one of the following: 1. At least one A Level (equivalent to 120 points) in a related area 2. BTEC National DiplomaGNVQ AdvancedAVCE in a science related subject 3. Mature students will be considered with evidence of ability and commitment. All applicants will be considered on interview.
