How to ApplyEnrol Application via Universities and Colleges Admissions Service Course Outline This programme will appeal to those who currently work or would like to work within a variety of settings such as private complementary or holistic practices, NHS trusts, GP practices and community settings. It will provide a progression opportunity for health care professionals to gain supplementary knowledge and enhance their skills within a complementary therapy vocational framework. It will also be a progression route for learners who have achieved some level 3 qualifications within therapy practice for example in body massage or holistic therapies. The course is validated by Edge Hill University. Profile The main aims of the programme are: To enable students develop skills, knowledge and understanding of the practice of complementary therapy To develop a range of skills in application that will allow the successful transition into an appropriate career To provide the opportunity to develop understanding of the complementary therapy practice through academic study and practical To establish links with the health care sector and relevant businesses to provide students with access to work based opportunities to develop their skills To encourage access and opportunity for students who have completed a programme at level 3 and want to access higher education that will equip them for employment The course will encourage students to work in a variety of work based settings both within the college therapy area, in the health-sector setting and in private practice. YEAR 1 modules: Applied approaches to complementary therapies, Healthy developments in adulthood, Essential skills for learning, The working environment, Psychology and communication for health, Promoting health in Complementary Therapies. YEAR 2 modules: Advanced approaches to Complementary Therapies, Enhanced stress management, Understanding addictive behaviour, Entrepreneurship, Care of long term conditions, Legal and ethical considerations within complementary therapies, Negotiated shellwork based module. Additional Information The course has been developed through consultations and engagement with a diverse group of professionals both within the Further Education College and colleagues from Sports and Health at Edge Hill University. Work Experience: work based activities will be a feature of this programme and learner will need to provide a current CRB reference. This could also be arranged through the college at approx charge of ?36.00.
