Course Description

Forestry Construction and Forestry Description This course is designed to provide the skills and ability to function as supervisors or self-employed contractors. Practical experience in forestry or related work is preferred. The HNC in Forestry is the 1st year of the HND in Forestry programme. Subjects include Forest Science, Silviculture, Harvesting, Timber Measurement, Timber Sales, Nursery Production. Qualification Higher National Certificate Progression HND Forestry Year 2 or career as a forest supervisor/foreman, contractor. Start Date 01 September 2009 Attendance Full-Time Campus Scottish School of Forestry (Balloch) Location Inverness Entry Requirements Entry requirements (mature students): Minimum of one year's pre-course experience in a woodland environment or attainment of the Certificate in Forestry or Conservation Skills. This may be waived if applicants have 3 or more Highers at C or above. Recognition will be given for relevant life or work experience. Entry requirements (school leavers): Minimum of 1 relevant Higher at C or above plus appropriate Standard Grades.
