Full Time Engineering : Vocational Engineering Training - Electrical and Electronic / Mechanical Level 1. Is this course for you? This course is extremely popular and applications consistently outnumber places available. For this reason we recommend that you get your applications in by the first phase deadline of 11th December. Late applicants after this date will be considered on availability. This course is suitable for people of all ages who wish to take a practical Engineering course at Introductory Level. How long is the course? One year When you will be attending. This course may be studied part-time or full-time depending upon training requirements When does the course start? September What's the course about? The course comprises of four units. Everyone will undertake the first two mandatory units which include: Working Safely in an Engineering Environment. Developing Yourself and Working with other people on Engineering Activities. In addition students can choose two from a choice of units. Examples of optional units which may be offered include: Making components using Hand Tools and Fitting Techniques. Engineering Machining. Assembling Electronic Components. Welding and Fabrication. Wiring Electrical Circuits. Is work experience a necessary part of the course? A series of industrial visits are embedded into the course to give trainees some experience of a working environment. How will you be assessed? The course is assessed by a portfolio of evidence and practical jobs, to demonstrate occupational skills and underpinning Engineering knowledge. What qualification will you achieve? Performing Engineering Operations NVQ Level 1. What can this course lead to? Students may progress from this course onto Performing Engineering Operations NVQ Level 2 - Further Vocational Engineering Training: Electrical and Electronic / Mechanical, linked to a Technical Certificate and Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering
