Engineering Pre-Apprenticeship Level 2 Programme What you will study On this course you will study for two qualifications. Performing Engineering Operations Level 2 (NVQ2) Primarily based in the Colleges Engineering Machine Shop, you will experience training and assessment in: - Working Safely in an Engineering Environment - Developing Yourself and Working with Other People on Engineering Activites - Using and Communicating Technical Information - Identifying and Selecting Engineering Materials Plus at least two other subjects taken from: - Fitting Using Hand Skills - Machining Engineering Materials - Using Computer Controlled Machines - Producing Engineering Drawings Using Computer Aided Design - Wiring and Testing Electrical Circuits You will also study for a 'Technical Certificate' that will complement your practical course and provide opportunity for progression to further full-time courses. You will also have an opportunity to improve your GCSE Maths grade if necessary. Who the course is for Practical school leavers who's academic ability is reasonable. And other potential students who's academic ability is unproven but have the motivation to learn. How you will study You will study through a mixture of both workshop and classroom based delivery. How you will be assessed Assessment of practical competence will be ongoing and available as competence can be demonstrated. Technical Certificate assessment will be dependant upon precise studies but will be either by assignments and/or Multi-Choice Tests. Qualification Title NVQ 2 in Performing Engineering Operations Course Length One year full-time or an agreed flexible mode of study. Course Availability The course is available at the following campus(es): Rhos-on-Sea Entry Guidelines You should have completed the Engineering Foundation Programme or achieved two GCSEs Grade D and above in Maths and Science. All applications will however be considered. Your Options After the Course After completing this course you could progress onto: - BTEC National Certificate in Engineering - BTEC National Certificate in Electrical/Electronic Engineering When the Technical Certificate includes a good performance in Maths, then progress to a BTEC National Diploma is possible. You could also go on into employment including apprenticeship schemes.
