Engineering Pre-Apprenticeship Level 1 Programme What you will study This practical course will introduce you to the Engineering skills and knowledge you?? ll need to start studying for qualifications in Mechanical Engineering. You will study three programs: - Practical National Vocation Qualification (NVQ) Level 1 - Theory City & Guilds (C&G) Level 1 - GCSE Maths Practical National Vocation Qualification (NVQ) Level 1 The practical aspects are in conjunction with the NVQ requirements which consist of four modules which are delivered in the engineering workshop. The module?? s are: - Working Safely in an Engineering Environment - Developing Yourself and Working with Other People on Engineering Activates - Fitting Using Hand Skills - Machining Engineering Materials Theory City & Guilds (C&G) Level 1 The theory consists of three modules: - Unit 601 Introduction to Engineering - Unit 602 Introduction to Fitting - Unit 604 Introduction to Turning You will also study Key Skills Level 1 to improve your communication, computer literacy and numeric capabilities, along with GCSE Maths to improve your grades in order to progress onto the next level. Who the course is for Practical school leavers whose academic ability is reasonable. And other potential student who's academic ability is unproven but who has the motivation to learn. How you will study You will study through a mixture of both workshop and classroom based delivery. How you will be assessed You will be assessed on the practical assessment by a portfolio in order to provide evidence of competency. For the theoretical work you will be assessed via an online multiple choice test and for the GCSE Maths you will be assessed via two examination papers. Qualification Title NVQ 1 in Performing Engineering Operations Course Length One year full-time or an agreed flexible mode of study. Course Availability The course is available at the following campus(es): Rhos-on-Sea Entry Guidelines You will require a letter of reference for acceptance onto this course. Your Options After the Course After the you have completed the Foundation Programme you could move into employment - usually on to a Foundation Modern Apprenticeship (these are available in Engineering Manufacturing). You could also continue to study at Coleg Llandrillo Cymru on the Intermediate Engineering Programme which will allow you to specialise in: - Manufacturing Engineering - Electrical/Electronic - Electrical Installation Once you have completed the Intermediate Engineering Programme you could go onto a higher level course. The College runs advanced and higher level courses in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
