Engineering BTEC National Diploma (Edexcel) WHAT'S ON THE COURSE? A BTEC National Diploma is a work-related course. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. As well as learning about the employment area you have chosen, you develop the skills you need to start or progress a career. Valued by employers and universities, they offer a clear route into employment or higher education. It is equivalent to three A-Levels. The course is made up of 17 units - six core units, which are mandatory and eleven specialist units. The specialist units enable you to study particular areas in depth and there is opportunity to follow a clear career pathway in Engineering. Mandatory units Business Systems for Technicians Communications for Technicians Engineering Project (120 GLH) Mathematics for Technicians Electrical and Electronic Principles Mechanical Principles and Applications Specialist Units Health, Safety, Risk Assessment and Welfare in the Engineering Workplace Properties and Applications of Materials Engineering Drawing for Technicians Selection and Applications of Programmable Logic Controllers Principles and Applications of Electronic Devices and Circuits Principles and Applications of Analogue Electronics Construction and Applications of Digital Systems Computer Aided Drafting Engineering Primary Forming Processes Engineering Secondary/Finishing Processes and Techniques Further Mathematics for Technicians Digital Electronics WHAT'S THE SCHEDULE AND FEES? HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE? 2 Years. Full Time. WHEN DOES IT START? 05 September 2011. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? Tuition fees are free for this course (home students only). However, for students aged 19+, there is a fee of ?50 per year, which may be remitted if you are on income-based benefits.
