Course Description

Course Information Title: Electrical Installations Engineering Level 2 Level: Level 2 Category: Engineering Curriculum Area: Electrical Installations Course Length 1 Year Level Level 2 Who is it for? This course covers industrial, commercial and domestic electrical installations and is ideal if you are interested in a career as an electrician. You will spend a large amount of time in a simulated working environment and will need to be physically fit and not afraid of working at heights! This course offers an NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations, which at present can be wholly achieved within our workshops. This is a nationally recognised qualification for the engineering industry and can lead to opportunities for employment in the electrical industry. It is an ideal course for progression onto level 3 awards and qualification as a fully trained electrician. Interview / Skills Assessment Yes What will I need? You will need 3 GCSEs at grade D or above, in maths, English and a science related subject or completion of the Level 1 Electrical Installations Course. What is covered? The course covers a number of the practical skills you will need to start your career in the electrical industry. This includes: ? Developing yourself and working with other people on engineering activities ? Using and communicating technical information ? Computer aided design ? Wiring and testing electrical circuits ? Installing electrical wiring support systems How is the course assessed? The course is assessed through a portfolio of evidence, and those progressing on to the City & Guilds 2330 will also take online and practical exams. What can this course lead to? You will be able to work in the electrical industry and also continue training towards NVQ Level 3 to qualify fully as an electrician. (To become a fully qualified electrician you must achieve a recognised City & Guilds qualification and the NVQ Level 3. The practical skills for these awards must be achieved in the workplace. You can take an assessment to see if you can progress onto the City & Guilds 2330; this will consist of an end test and an assessment of individual behaviour, attendance and timekeeping during the NVQ award.)
