Course Description

Awarding Body EAL Course Content The course focuses on specific welding and fabrication skills and recognises what a person is able to do at work. It involves the skills and knowledge needed to execute the job, ability to organise work and spotting and preventing problems. Course Features Vocational course with no written exams. Assessment based on a Portfolio of evidence built up through practical work, logbook entries and completion of knowledge questions. Progression from level 1 or equivalent qualification. Provides entry to City & Guilds level 2 / 3. Industry recognised qualification. Increases job prospects. Meets requirements of the modern apprentice scheme. Career Prospects and Progression Completion of the course would allow successful students to progress to an Engineering Apprenticeship and progress to City & Guilds level 2/3 Modules 1.Working safely in an engineering environment. 2.Working efficiently and effectively in engineering. 3.Using and communicating technical information. 4.Producing components using hand fitting techniques. 5.Producing platework components and assemblies. 6.Preparing and using manual metal arc welding equipment. 7.Preparing and using manual MIG, MAG and other continuous wire welding equipment. Method of Assessment Continuous assessment of practical coursework and portfolio development. Course Length 1 Year (Full Time) Time of Delivery Daytime Campus Graig Campus Bilingual Provision This course can be studied in English only Entry Requirements Applicants mayhold a level 1 certificate, have a keen interest in welding,fabrication and commitment to an apprenticeship are essential.G.C.S.E. maths,english and a science subject, at grade c , is required for this course and to meet the requirements of employers Full-time or Part-time Full Time and Part Time
