Course Description

What you will study: A series of units covering the theory and practice of the following topics:- * Health & Safety * Information, quantities and communicating with others * Building methods and construction technology * Setting up and using fixed and transportable machinery * Manufacturing complex shaped joinery products * Producing complex shaped joinery product details * Constructing a bow front shop window Your Course Structure: Classroom: 50%; Practical: 50% How you will learn: Through practical tasks in the College workshops, working through associated study packages, attending lectures and tutorials and using the Learning Resource Centre. How you will be assessed: Continuous assessment throughout the course of practical workshop tasks and online unit-end tests. Final assessment is through completion of a practical piece of work and an external exam. Entry Requirements: Level 2 qualification in bench joinery or three to four years suitable industrial experience which can be assessed at an interview with a course tutor. You will also need Level 2 literacy and numeracy qualifications. If you do not have these, we can assess your current level of literacy/numeracy. Attendance: This is a full time course and attendance is three days per week.
