Course Description

Diploma Construction Award in Carpentry & Joinery (Level 3) Course content: Advanced knowledge of techniques and theories of site carpentry & joinery. Course modules: - Assist in Establishing the Operational Area - Assist with Progressing Operations - Assist with Organising Resources - Co-ordinate and Install First and Second Fixings - Co-ordinate and Erect Carcassing - Produce Timber Products (Circular Saw) - Phase Test knowledge. Special course features: - Includes Key Skills to Level 2 - Tutorial and Enrichment Programme - Allow progression on to Advanced Award. Time commitment: 18 hours per week. Assessment: All modules are assessed (six in total) throughout the year, with two computer based end test and a practical phase test in the last month of the programme. Entry requirements: You will need to show genuine interest in the Construction Industry. Entry is also dependent on an interview. You must have a minimum of 4 pass (D) grade GCSEs including English, Mathematics and Science and hold a Diploma Construction Award Site Carpentry (Level 2). Additional information: Full personal protective equipment is required. Progression: Progressing on to a Foundation Degree programme or full-time employment as a work based student. Careers: Entry in to industry as an Apprentice.
