Modules Covered You will study the modules: Personal Development Planning Multidisciplinary practice in Community Settings Creative Practice Studies at each level of the Social environment and Public Policy Introduction to Counselling and Psychology. Work-based learning: You will undertake individually negotiated projectsplacements throughout the course. You will also have the opportunity to study a variety of modules chosen from the Bradford College Higher Education Scheme so you can tailor your course towards your own personalcareer interests. These include: a range of artsdrama skills based modules, a range of counselling and group work modules, Art and Society, Mental Health Issues in the Community, Working With Others in a Multi-Cultural Context, Promoting Healthy Living etc. Teaching Methods Our learning and teaching strategies will develop your key skills, transferable employment skills, community development skills and to link theory with practice in a variety of challenging and stimulating ways. In particular, the Personal Development Planning and Work-Based Learning modules enhance your learning and help you to develop useful techniques for your future work. Work PlacementFieldwork Foundation degrees contain a work-based element that amounts to one third of the overall course delivery. In your first semester, you will be involved in a challenging networkingresearch project. This will be followed by individually negotiated placementswork-based projects throughout the rest of your course. Course Overview The course is ideal for the development of a creative career pathway, freelance or employed, in a range of community-based settings. It may also be suitable if you are currently employed in one of a range of voluntary and statutory agencies and wish to develop creative ways of working as part of your continuing professional development. We have designed this course to give you an understanding of how creative practitioners engage with communities. We will equip you with skills required by community and health-based organisations, andor enable you to progress to further levels of study at degree and Masters level. Course Structure The programme has been structured by us so that you develop your knowledge consistently through Personal Development and Planning (PDP), work-based learning and supporting theory and skills development. Although these key elements deliver different elements of the programme, they are designed to complement each other. Learning Methods You can study full-time or part-time. Learning experiences will be offered in College, local arts organisations and other agencies and via blended learning using a virtual learning environment, eg moodle. You will be immersed in project and research work, work-based problem-solving, portfolio development, using a reflective learning journal etc. Assessment Your progress throughout the course will be assessed by a variety of informal and formal methods including: peer feedback, self-assessment reports, portfolio submission, evaluative literature reviews, project presentation, practice observation and end of module essays. Entry Requirements Suggested tariff 40-80. You should possess a minimum of three passes at GCSE Grade C or above and two A levels or the equivalent, such as BTEC, National Diplomas etc or successful completion of an accredited access course. We offer flexible study and will accept students who can demonstrate the ability to study at higher education level. You may be asked to submit a portfolio or complete an essay as part of your application. Accreditation of relevant prior learning andor experience may be possible.
