Communication and Culture, GCE AS Level - Level 3 (AQA) Qualification Obtained: GCE AS Level in Communication and Culture About this Course: This exciting new programme provides practical and analytical skills while learning about Cultural Codes and Conventions, Gender and Queer Theories, Semiotics, Power, Ideologies and Representations. You will be taught how to apply these theories and many more to topics like The Development of Self Image, Graffiti and Signage, Body Modification and Popular Music. You will research and discover how you as an individual are a product of the society in which you live, and how these factors determine how you perceive and treat others, and how others react to you! You will develop a range of transferable skills and a heightened awareness of the structured conditions and influences under which we all live, while delving into areas of society and representation that interest you. Entry Requirements: Our standard requirements, including English Language GCSE Grade C. Assessment Methods: This is carried out by coursework (including a portfolio/e-portfolio and audio-visual presentation) and written examination. Progression: While immediate employment within industry is possible, degree-level study will enhance your prospects even further. This A level is good preparation for either our Foundation Degree in Communication at Work or our Foundation Degree in Media Writing with Production. We offer a wide range of interesting university courses. Funding Information Most students do not have to pay full tuition fees and many students have their course fees waived completely depending on their age and circumstances. Repayable and non-repayable grants and loans are also available for higher education students. When a course code contains 'EC' this indicates that it is an economic course which in most cases does not attract course fee waivers. Where courses are run over more than one year, the tuition fee shown is for one year only. Fees for subsequent years are subject to review.
