This programme is suitable for students over 16 years of age who wish to pursue a career in Construction or Civil Engineering. How long does it take to complete? 2 years. What qualifications do I need? What is the programme structure? The programme structure includes a range of units of study. Key Skills If you are aged 16-18 and following this course as a full time student your programme will include tutorials, enrichment activities and the development of key skills. Key skills are recognised and valued by employers and universities and are an important part of your course as they will help to improve your performance and confidence at college and in the future. Are there any special facilities for the programme? The College has all the necessary equipment and laboratories for students to work with. How is the programme assessed? The programme is assessed through continuous assessment of a portfolio containing evidence of completed assignments. Will there be any extra costs involved? Students will require drawing equipment and a scientific calculator, and there are some costs towards site visits and a residential visit. What if I need support? The College provides a range of learning support for students who like extra help with their studies. BTEC National Diploma in Civil Engineering or BTEC National Diploma in Construction. (Equivalent to 3 'A' levels.) Examining/Validating Body EDEXCEL. What can I do next? Successful students can progress onto Higher Education Programmes in related fields such as Foundation Degrees. Students can also progress into suitable employment.
