Full Time BTEC National Diploma in Horse Management Level 3 Qualification Start Date: September 2009 The Course: This course will provide you with comprehensive training in aspects of equine business management. Equivalent to studying three A levels, this course is assessed by a combination of assignments, practical and oral assessments and short revision tests. Morning, afternoon and weekend yard duties are an essential part of this course and must be undertaken by all students on a Rota basis. This course will include a one day per week work placement. Course Content for the Equine Business Management Horse husbandry, work related experience in the horse sector, stable skills, animal biology, animal anatomy and physiology, horse behaviour and welfare, land based event management, competition grooming, horse fitness and training, business management for land-based industries, business planning, the horse industry, presenting business information, equestrian teaching, horse rehabilitation and therapy, Investigative project in the horse sector, animal health and horse nutrition Course Content for the Equitation Horse husbandry, work related experience in the horse sector, stable skills, animal biology, animal anatomy and physiology, horse behaviour and welfare, land based event management, competition grooming, horse fitness and training, equitation practical and theory, riding and training on the flat, riding over fences, equestrian teaching, horse rehabilitation and therapy, Investigative project in the horse sector, animal health and horse nutrition Progression: Higher Education. Employment. Equipment Required: PAS015BSEN1384 standard hard hat, riding boots, jodhpurs, riding gloves, short and long whip, College Equestrian Uniform. Details will be given at interview. If you are considering undertaking optional riding at the college you will need a BSI standard back protector. Financial Information: If you are aged 16 18 on 31 August 2009, and are resident in the UK for the last three years, you do not have to pay tuition or examination fees. For mature students, the tuition fee is 1224 per year, together with an examination fee of 153 which is payable in year 1. Help with fees up to the full cost of the course may be available.
