Course Description

BTEC National Diploma in Construction Length of Course : 2 years Campus: Pencoed Course Description: This course introduces students to a wide range of construction related knowledge. The course is recognised nationally and internationally as a progression towards Higher Education and professional opportunities within the Construction Industry. Activities include classroom-based learning, building and land surveying. Work is assessed via written assignments and participation in practical activities including material testing, surveying and setting out processes. Modules: Health, Safety and Welfare in the Construction and the Built Environment Construction and the Environment Science and Materials in Construction and the Built Environment Mathematics in Construction and the Built Environment Construction Technology and Design in Construction and Civil Engineering Planning Organisation and Control of Resources Measuring, Estimating and Tendering Processes for Construction Graphical Detailing in Construction and the Built Environment Surveying for Construction and Civil Engineering Entry requirements: 4 GCSEs a grade C or above or BTEC First Diploma in Construction (or a related area) or an Intermediate GNVQ in an appropriate related area Progression/Career Opportunities: Many students use their qualification to progress onto a higher education courses. Alternatively, successful completion of the course can enable students to progress to trainee management positions, or pursue a career in Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Surveying and Construction Management.
