Full Time BTEC National Certificate and Diploma in Children#039 About This Course The BTEC Nationals in Children's Care, Learning and Development provide much of the underpinning knowledge for the National Occupational Standards in Children's Care, Learning and Development, as well as a good deal of the underpinning knowledge for he National Occupational Standards in Play work. Consequently they act as a robust introduction to both sectors. They prepare learners for employment in the sectors or for Higher Education. Successful completion of the BTEC National Certificate or BTEC National Diploma in Children's Care, Learning and Development confers Qualified Practitioner Status (for the 0-8 age group) to learners. What will I study? Positive Relationships for Children's Care, Learning and Devlopment Positive Environments for Children's Care, Learning and Development Promoting Children's Development Reflecting on and Developing Practise for Children aged 0-8 Safeguarding Children Promoting Children's Rights Children's Learning Activities and Play Plus specialist units of choice What do I need to join? 4 GCSEs at grades A-C including English Language. For teacher training, grade C is required in English, Maths and Science. How long is the course? 2 years. 3 days in college and 1 day in work placement. The course requires 800 placement hours so will include block weeks during the term. How will I learn? Classroom and work based What can I do afterwards? BTEC National Diploma in Early Years Foundation Degree in Early Years Higher education (240 UCAS points) What are my career opportunities?
