BTEC Introductory Diploma in Health & Social Care What you will study This is an introductory course that will provide you with a sound grounding in Health & Social Care. The course is made up of eight units: three core units, two compulsory Personal Skills units and three optional units. The optional units enable you to study particular areas in more depth. All students take these three core units: - Developing Skills in Health and Social Care - Starting Work in Health and Social Care - Working in Health and Social Care You take two of the following Personal Skills units: - Financial Management - Personal Effectiveness - Social Responsibility at Work You then take three of the following optional units: - Exploring Local Services - Health and the Environment - Images of People - Looking After Children Who the course is for The BTEC Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care is designed to encourage you to develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work, learning and to help you achieve your full potential. BTEC Introductory qualifications are intended as practical ??OEhands on?? programmes with each one taught in the context of real jobs and careers in a chosen vocational sector. This gives you the chance to explore the opportunities offered in that sector, and to acquire appropriate vocational skills. How you will study The course is delivered through presentations, lectures, coursework and outside visits. How you will be assessed The core and optional units are graded P (Pass), M (Merit) or D (Distinction). The Personal Skills units are designated pass or fail. Qualification Title BTEC Introductory Diploma in Health and Social Care Course Length One year, full-time.
