Full Time BTEC Introductory Diploma in Construction Level 1 Course Code : FLR1CON (091001) Prospectus Title : BTEC Introductory Diploma in Construction Level 1 Mode of Study :FULL-TIME Who is it For? The new BTEC Introductory Diploma is designed to encourage you to develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work, learning and to help you achieve your full potential. BTEC Introductory qualifications are intended as practical 'hands on' programmes with each one taught in the context of real jobs and careers in a chosen vocational sector. This gives you the chance to explore the opportunities offered in that sector, and to acquire appropriate vocational skills. You may be able to study for one or more BTEC Introductory qualifications at the same time in order to get a flavour of several vocational sectors. If you wanted to continue with your studies you could take another qualification at level 1 or 2 in an alternative sector e.g. CSkills L1 Diploma A BTEC Introductory Diploma in Construction can also prepare you for employment in the construction industry. What Does the Course Involve? The course is made up of eight units:. ? All students take these three core units; ? Starting Work in Construction ? Working in Construction ? Developing Skills and Working Safely in Construction ? You take two of the following Personal Skills units: ? Personal Effectiveness ? Social Responsibility at Work ? Financial Management ? You then take three of the following optional units: ? Developing Joinery Skills ? Developing Trowel Skills ? Developing Painting and Decorating Skills ? Developing Building Services Skills ? Exploring the Built Environment ? Basic building Maintenance How is the Course Assessed? The Core and Optional units are graded P (pass), M (merit) or D (distinction). The Personal Skills units are designated pass or fail. All students will be expected to provide their own safety shoes Other Details Formal entry requirements. Entry Requirement You must be able to demonstrate at interview commitment and motivation to attend the programme and a willingness to study theoretical and practical components of the programme at that level. All students will be interviewed prior to acceptance and will be required to undertake an initial assessment, CSkills aptitude test and a practical test. You will normally need to have at least one of the following: ? An Entry Certificate in Skills for Working Life or Life Skills or other entry level qualifications ? An appropriate standard of literacy and numeracy ? Related interests and experiences
