Full Time BTEC Introductory Diploma in Construction Course Code : FTF1CON (091001) Prospectus Title : BTEC Introductory Diploma in Construction Mode of Study :FULL-TIME At the start of the course you will be asked to pay a returnable ? 25 deposit to cover the loan of equipment and library books. In addition you will be required to pay for any educational trips as well as your own stationery or material provisions. All students will be expected to provide their own safety shoes. Who is it For? The new BTEC Introductory Diploma is designed to encourage you to develop the personal skills and qualities you need for work, learning and to help you achieve your full potential. BTEC Introductory qualifications are intended as practical hands on programmes with each one taught in the context of real jobs and careers in a chosen vocational sector. This gives you the chance to explore the opportunities offered in that sector, and to acquire appropriate vocational skills. You may be able to study for one or more BTEC Introductory qualifications at the same time in order to get a flavour of several vocational sectors. If you wanted to continue with your studies you could take another qualification at level 1 or 2 in an alternative sector e.g. Foundation in Construction Award. A BTEC Introductory Diploma in Construction can also prepare you for employment in the construction industry. What Does the Course Involve? The course is made up of eight units: * All students take these three core units; * Starting Work in Construction * Working in Construction * Developing Skills and Working Safely in Construction You take two of the following Personal Skills units: * Personal Effectiveness * Social Responsibility at Work * Financial Management You then take three of the following optional units: * Developing Joinery Skills * Developing Trowel Skills * Developing Painting and Decorating Skills * Developing Building Services Skills * Exploring the Built Environment * Basic building Maintenance How is the Course Assessed? The Core and Optional units are graded P (pass), M (merit) or D (distinction). The Personal Skills units are designated pass or fail. How Much Does it Cost? At the start of the course you will be asked to pay a returnable ? 25 deposit to cover the loan of equipment and library books.
