Full Time BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care Course Code : FRB2HSC (091001) Prospectus Title : BTEC First Diploma in Health and Social Care Mode of Study :FULL-TIME At the start of the course you will be asked to pay a returnable ?25 deposit to cover the loan of equipment and library books. In addition you will be required to pay for any educational trips as well as your own stationery or material provisions. Who is it For? The BTEC First Diploma is a broad based qualification which offers a focused qualification for school leavers, and mature learners too, who wish to follow a programme of study that can be directly related to work experience andor to an aspect of employment that they wish to move into. This qualification can offer you routes into employment, further education and higher education. It provides you with opportunities to acquire skills and knowledge which are transferable and will enable you to meet changing circumstances with confidence. A distinction in the programme will allow you to apply for the BTEC National Diploma in Care (Level 3) and follow a route into higher education or employment. You can apply for employment in health and social care settings and then follow the NVQ route. You can apply for work based training programmes in health and social care, childcare and other subject areas. What Does the Course Involve? Completion of the following 6 units of study over a thirty two week year. * Communication and individual rights within the health and social care sector * Individual needs within the health and social care sector * Vocational practice in health and social care settings * The impact of diet on health * Human lifespan development * Creative and therapeutic activities in health and social care Key Skills: Communication, Application of Number and Information Technology. Additional Qualification Additional Qualifications: GCSE resits can only be done if you want to upgrade from a D. They can be done alongside the main programme. How is the Course Assessed? Continuous coursework internal assessment, there are no exams. All units required for the qualification must be achieved. How Much Does it Cost? You will have an opportunity to undertake work experience in health and social care settings. Police Check All students on health and social care and childcare courses are required to undergo a police check with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).
