Course Description

Display Screen Equipment Risk Assessment Refresher Workshop 0.5 or 1 day course Overview Assessors typically conduct display screen equipment (DSE) risk assessments as an additional task to their day job. Often assessors do not conduct as many assessments as they would like or wait months or even years, after completing training, before starting to assess. Conducting good DSE risk assessments relies on the assessor's understanding of the risks and good practice, their ability to communicate with users to help them understand the workstation changes that are required and their written assessment. It's easy for assessors to lose touch with the latest good practice in relation to workstation set-up and to lose confidence in their ability to assess. Refresher workshops are designed to refresh assessor's skills and to give them confidence to conduct effective assessments. The half day workshop is more suitable for those who are conducting assessments but just want to reassure themselves that they are doing it right. The full day workshop is more suitable for those who haven't conducted many assessments since their training and need to go back to basics. Who should attend? The workshops are only intended for staff who have completed the IOSH 2 day DSE risk assessment course. Half day workshop (3 hours) Introduction - sharing experiences Update on relevant legislative & HSE Guidance developments What are the risks? and how do we avoid or reduce them? 12 point plan update & top tips Using the forms Quality checking assessments - delegates are required to bring an assessment to gain feedback Full day workshop AM The morning of the full day workshop is the same as for the half day workshop PM Practical session - delegates conduct DSE risk assessments of volunteer users Discussion of their experiences Delegates are required to submit a sample risk assessment within 2 weeks of the course. Submissions received by the deadline will receive feedback for improvement, via email.
