BTEC First Diploma in Agriculture Level Two | The Centre for Rural and Equine Studies | Full-Time Course Description There have been many changes in farming practice over the last few years. Current entrants to the industry need up to date, relevant expertise to respond to the challenges of diversi???cation into conservation, food production and mechanisation. This course combines a balance of practical, theory and work experience for those who are intending or considering working in dairy, beef or sheep farming. This one year programme of study provides an excellent introduction to agriculture and the land based sector, and allows progression to Level 3 courses either at Craven College or elsewhere. Course Content Units studied include: Agriculture Industry and Organisations Conservation and Improvement of British Habitats Introduction to Animal and Plant Husbandry Introduction to Land-Based Workshop Practice Land-Based Machinery Operation Practical Land-Based Skills Work related experience in Agriculture Key Skills Opportunity may be given to achieve certi???cates in Chainsaw Work Application of Pesticides ATV Handling Tractor Driving and Basic Stockmanship Career Progression Further Education Employment as assistants with stock, machinery, tractors Self-employment Is this course available as evening study?
