Motorsports BSc (Hons) Motorsport Management and Logistics (Top Up) Myerscough reference: 09BSMMLMYF01P UCAS Code: NJ29 Course Length: One year full time Venue: Myerscough College, Preston About the Course This course is designed as a progression route for those students who have completed a Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma in a relevant subject area. The degree programme meets the demands of the off-highway sector of the industry. It focuses on strategic management, vehicle and quality management and supply chain management for motorsports. The course adopts the same unique style of teaching and learning first experienced during the Foundation Degree, where the academic aspect of the course is linked directly to real time business projects. The course details the strategic content of management, quality assurance and logistics. It includes a dissertation module, for which students have a choice of researching an engineering type project or alternatively focusing on a detailed management proposal. List of Modules ? Strategic Management (1) - Machinery sales and service is now a global industry. This module aims to provide the strategic management skills required within a company, to allow it to be competitive and to maintain credibility within this sector. ? Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Standards (1) - The module addresses the implications regarding: factors in meeting the minimum standard of Quality Assurance; analysing and evaluating added value; evaluating the results of performance and effectiveness; assessing the value of continual improvement and quantitative measurement. ? Industry Project (double module) - The module aims to provide the student with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, experience and skills needed for project management, allowing the student to face and address real challenges. It is envisaged that the individual student will choose between an engineering based project, or an organisational management project. ? The Components of Logistics and Supply Chain Management - This module will enable the student to critically analyse and evaluate supply chain management and logistics, including the systems developed and those evolving in the development of product supply and storage, and the application of supply chain management within the differing facets of the motorsport sector. ? Contemporary Issues in Motorsport - This module will enable students to critically evaluate a range of current issues that are likely to have a major influence on the structure and development of the industry over the next few years. Assessments Students will face a variety of assessments including technical and practical reports, group and individual presentations, individual study projects and time-constrained assessments. Possible Careers / Jobs Graduates will be in a position to apply for management posts in the sector, and advancement into teaching or research. Progression Post-graduate studies or employment.
